CUSTOMISED TILL PROMPTS, LIFESTYLE RETAILERS IN CONTROL OF KNIFE & ALCOHOL SALES

While retailers face the very real prospect of fines and legal action if they sell government restricted items to under aged persons, few small to medium size lifestyle retailers have had automatic on screen age verification to assist staff vigilance at the point of sale.

The latest version of Futura's leading retail customer relationship management solution puts users back in control, enabling any number of pop-up messages to be created during a transaction to remind staff about proof of age and other information that maybe required when selling specific items, especially products such as knives, alcohol and related items.

The new feature, which works with both touch screens and standard POS terminals, will enable retailers to align sales with the Government initiative to limit the sale of knives to under eighteens. At the same time it provides retail managers with the flexibility to increase sales staff effectiveness in suggesting companion products, and improving customer service with customised messages and prompts tailored to specific product lines.

In addition the new version features a raft of improved features and functionality to improve employee effectiveness at the point of sale and overall management control including new hot key functionality to provide greater flexibility and speed at the point of sale and improved customer experience.  

For small items which cannot be barcoded, or which are particularly popular last minute purchases, Futura's touch screens feature new hot keys, which automatically go straight to the item within the POS.  This is particularly useful for gift shops selling pencils or badges and improves accuracy, speeds up the customer buying experience.
